I am done keeping Ceratophrys... last winter all my frogs died during astevation. My C.Joazernezis just died during the deep sleep as well. I was checking the tempertures and they were 75F on the cool side and 85F in the heated side. This frog ate well and ate before it decided to curl up into astevation... He has that all to familiar smell of rotting smell coming off of him... I bought him July 2011 and he lived untill late October 2012. He ate a large dubia roach before he died... This frog cost me $80

Just bought a couple Hognose snakes, I have such better luck with reptiles. I do have three Green Tree frogs (juviniles) that I bought last month that are doing excellent. For example I have had my Silver phase Tanimnbar Blue Tongue skink and he is 4 years-old now doing very well.

You had an 85 temp while he was under?

He was not under, he was moving back and fourth from one cool side to the warm side on his own and died. I was thinking he was astevating, because he covered himself in substrate... Thank you BIG and FwoGiZ.

Did you have it really dry in the tank or something? What was the humidity?

I had hrydoballs at the bottom with screen seperating the coco fiber. When the substrate started to dry up, I always used water to keep it moist while checking my temps. I combed the cocofiber for debbris and poo. This frog would enter its waterdish every time and again. Thanks BIG and Kelly.
