After offering cockroach nymphs for weeks... a nightcrawler or two... and crickets... My frog never even tried to eat... This frog is the runt of the two C. joazeirensis I have in my care. This frog was skittish and ignored food... All I got was "barks" and bites of annoyance one night. I let this frog settle in. It burrowed and sat in the water dish... All ends bad for this baby's short life. R.I.P. The other frog has grown well and is eating with gusto. He/she ate a larger nightcrawler tonight. This is the larger frog I am talking about. Maybe size had something to do with it?

I could not bring myself bury it and decieded to freeze it in a nightcrawler container. It is such a beautiful frog... I still want to have it around... What can I do to preserve its body?

Sorry, Jaws..that was an expensive loss.
Hopefully the other one will continue to do well.
I've lost a couple $100 Waxys over the the past few years,
So not only do you lose the poor little frog, you lose a significant
amt of money.

For future reference, a lot of Ceratophrys eat frogs in the wild. You might try that on stubborn ones in the future, Bill

This frog was captive bred, do you thihk I could find a frog to feed this frog small enough for a meal? This frog was less than 2 inches long. Just larger than a U.S. quarter. I don't think most petshops in my area would have anything to sell.

Your right, I lost about $70. But that is all right. It goes with the hobby.

Thank you, Rosie for your kind words. It was a heart break to lose the little frog last night.

What can I do to preserve its body?
My science teacher in high school had the best class room. It had a couple hundred jars with little bugs and small critters and things in it. I believe that they were filled with formaldehyde to preserve them.

Thank you, Sandy_Bear. I will have to find somewhere to buy this.

Thank you for the kind words, d_virginiana. I am really happy with healthy appetite the other frog has. He has grown round and larger.
This C. joazeirensis baby ate the 1st night he/she was in its new terrarium. I have no doubt this frog will hesitate a meal.

My C. Cornuta was the same way as a froglet. He ate with an agressive gusto the first night in my care, that was September 2008.

I had some Cornuta froglets about 6 years ago that would eat nothing but frogs and they were CB and the breeder said yea, some times all they will eat is frogs. So they ate (don't hate) Redeyes, Green tree frogs , the ate with gusto.
