Bowser was throwing up in the last 3 days. He had this hacking cough-like (he was also lathargic) symptoms. I saw a couple roaches he did regurgitate. I put him in a sweater box for a few hours the previous evening. The cough-like sypmtoms subsided. He seemed alot better, he was going into and out of his water dish on his own. The only thing is he would not have any interest in eating. Then yesterday while sitting in his water dish...he died. I had him since 2008. He was 3-years old. His diet staple was Nightcrawlers with a Dubia cockroach every now and again. Crickets and mice (a chick was offered last year one time, which he digested it successfully) were treats. I will always remember his gusto for food and his agressive attitude compared to Bruno. My frogs were living in a tuperware the day I purchased them that April of 2008. They were 1 1/2 inches snout vent legnth. I love them both and was happy to througly clean the terrarium after my frog's passing. Bruno is doing well today and last night he did eat well. I noticed he was lunging foward between the divider glass. He must have noticed his tank mate was missing... R.I.P.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, Josh.
That's another reason I decided to give up some of my frogs.
I don't seem to handle the losses very well the older I get.
I really get frustrated when they seem to die for no apparent reason.
I know there is one, of course; but sometimes it just seems "they die".
It's pretty expensive to have an autopsy done on a frog around here.

Thank you, Rosie. Yes... they die. They are alot more sensitive than, say an Iguana. I was reading up on frogs throwing up... They did say frogs can throw up their stomachs... Some frogs recover and mine did not. It goes with the hobby I guess. Frogs are sensitive.

Rosie, I remember you did lose a long term frog of yours, too. Was it your Waxy Monkey frog?

You might be referring to a Waxy I had for over 2 yrs. Yeah..just found him dead in the tank one day. No warning..no nothing!
I haven't lost any lately, but about a year ago did lose a Big-Eyed and a Red Eyed. I had both for over 8 yrs.

Hey isn't 8 years for a tree frog a life span? Because I know some tree frogs such as the Green Tree frog only live 2-3 years. Your Waxy was to young...

Sorry about the loss. RIP

It's good you're still keeping frogs. When Skinny passed away a few years back I ended up selling the whole frog collection.

awww... sorry to hear you did end up not keeping them. Thanks for the kind words. Yeah. I am still enjoying my Bruno.
My new C. joazeirensis are very tricky... one is eating well and the other has not eaten at all the 3 weeks I have had it... Not even an attepmt at a roach, cricket, or nightcrawler... I am concerned... I emailed the breeder, I gonna see if he got back to me.

Thanks, Sandy_Bear. I am raising two Ceratophrys joazeirensis and the larger frog will got into the split terrarium. You think Bruno may want to eat the little Horned frog through the glass divider? Right now the two Horned frogs are in a split 10 gallon with a cardboard divider.
So sorry for your loss! Bowser was a beautful frog! Big hugs!
Thank you Michelle. I still enjoyed feeding Bruno last night. He is a happy frog these days.
