Can frogs give you some sort of fungus? Because ever since I have gotten my frogs I have had somekind of fungus on my hands. I have to put on a lotiony antibacterial mixture on my hands. thanks for letting me know.

I think you have as much chance of a frog giving you fungus as a toad giving you warts, so I don't think you have anything to worry about .

Can you take a picture of this fungus on your hands and post it?

Have you tried washing with a soap/shampoo that contains Tea Tree Oil? Or bought Tea Tree essential oil?
Have you tried washing with Head and Shoulders shampoo?
Have you tried spraying your hands with the Lamisil spray?

Have you made an appointment with your GP to look at your hands?

It's just I don't know what else it could be. I have always had veru sensitive hands so I was wondering if frogs could give you some sort of fungus. Allthough, I always wash my hands thoroughly. so I have no idea what it could be. But, I have been putting that cream that I was talking about on my hands and they are doing better.

I forget what frogs you have but my tomato frogs excrete white sticky stuff as a defense mechanism whenever I handle them for cage cleaning. Be careful with those frogs as if that stuff gets into a wound it could cause some sort of allergic reaction.

I would suggest buying plastic gloves when you handle your frogs, and if your hands get better then you know for sure you had some sort of reaction with them or something in their cage. If you're allergic to vinyl then get gloves that are made out of nitrile.

No frogs can only get fungus and usually its only if they are mechanically injured like a cut. BUT, what can happen is that if you are washing you're hands a lot, to keep froggies bacteria-free, your hands would be more likely to get sensitive to certain things. I used to wash my hands so much that they would bleed and itch all the time. If I didn't know better i might think that's a fungus. Is there like a residue on there, cause that's a good way to know whether it's actually fungus?

Well, sometimes my hands look all shiney but there isn't any residue on them. and the area where it is dried out/fungus is inbetween my fingers. it's not all over my hands, just inbetween my fingers. sometimes it is all red and swollen. I have had this since last year.

Megan, GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR. If your regular GP doesn't know how to help this, ask for a referral to see a Dermatologist

Keep in mind i am a med school drop out so can't be that helpful But a year worth of that seems like a chronic thing which could be excema psoriasis or even possibly some kind of human fungus. If you cannot afford a doctor, try the free clinics, every city has one. Seems to me that its becoming serious though. The only thing i'm sure of is that frogs don't carry zoonotics, meaning diseases that mammals like us can get. Rats, bugs, etc all carry zoonotic. Your cat or dog is more likely to get you sick than a frog. But try seeing a doctor that graduated bc they'll probably know right away.

I doubt this is true. There are probably fungal infections that could pass from frog to human and vice versa, but so many are ubiquitous it would be hard to isolate. Frogs CAN get chytrid fungus without an open sore I'm pretty sure. Considering how many thousands of wild frogs have been infected with chytrid I doubt every single one of them had an injury.

Many frogs have various types of defensive chemicals on their skin ranging from something that just makes them taste bad to something that can make a predator sick. While some don't usually irritate human skin, maybe you are just very sensitive.

What type of lotion are you using? If it is an anti fungal and you see improvement that's probably the key. If it's an antibiotic it won't really have any effect on a fungal infection.

Try a couple of things: wear gloves and see if it goes away. Also, check to see if one particular frog species causes the problem...might help figure it out.

My ex boyfriend got a fungus on his hands that was a lot like athlete's foot fungus. It made his hands dry and the creases in his skin on this hands looked like white lines and they itched. His grandfather was a military medic in Vietnam, and told him to pee on his hands...it did clear it up. The urine was too acidic for the fungus and it killed it.

Just a thought...but seriously see a doctor when you can.

I am not going to go see a doctor.okay, I know everyone will probably think I'm weird or even dislike me,but I don't care. The only healer that can heal your body completly AND not mess you up even worse is God. okay, I jusy pray that he will help me get better and I do as much as I can. and you know what.........it has cleared up. so you see I did have to see a doctor. And I didn't waste money. I was only asking if frog could give you fungus.

So what happens if your arm gets dismembered? Instead of receiving medical treatment you're just going to pray about it?

I was talking about something that wasn't as big as a problem as getting your arm taken off. if you have you arm,or any body part, dismembered then go to the doctor and get it taken care of. THEN, pray that you will have a quick recovery and don't get an infection. I was just talking about about the small things that don't need a doctors "helping" hand. From all the things that I have seen and heard of, doctors don't do anything but mess you up evern worse. so lets just pray that you never get any limb dismembered.

Wow. Guess you haven't heard or seen very much. Unless you are an extremely talented diagnostician, how do you know when that invisible line between "the small things that don't need a doctor's helping hand" and big problems has been crossed? Cancer starts small. Flesh eating bacterial infections start small. Tuberculosis starts small. Multiple schlerosis starts small. Lupus starts small. At least consider getting a clear diagnosis. Then you can always choose your treatment whether it be prayer or not. A little lump I found in my neck 19 years ago was promptly biopsied and I'm still alive today because of an experienced oncologist's care. If I had waited until it got big (you can't amputate a neck) I'd have been pushing up daisies a long long time ago!

for stuff like cancer and all the other stuff you were talking about, if you look it up on google you can find some herbal cure. I have heard that eating liver and dried dandelion roots can REALLY help with cancer. I really don't want to keep going back and forth. I only asked a simple question and all you had to say was Yes or No.
