This is my Suriname And Ornate Horned frogs. My 3 year old Cranwelli is still sleeping this winter. I am about to clean their 20gal split terrarium and I am going to replace a block of fresh coco fiber. The Ornate is 2 years old (he'll be 3 in July) and the Suriname is 1 year old (he'll be 2 in August), both are males.
My Suriname: His name is Cho'gall (an Ogre's name from the pc game Warcraft II)

Thank you FuulieQ. Chubby is what Horned frogs are usually.

Yeah, well. It just makes them cuter.
I'd really like to get an ornate horned once I have more room. And a Crested Gecko. And a hundred other animals, until my whole house is full of them.

Yeah! Same here FuulieQ! I would really like to get a Mexican, Eastern, or Southern Hognose snake, a Frilled Dragon, a green phase Surinam (Cb of course) Horned frog, Tiger Legged frog, a Bicolor Waxy Monkey frog, a Red Eyed Tree frog, and a Caimin Lizard. But I am quite happy of what I currently own. If I was going to choose one of these herps on my wish-list it would have to be the Hognose snake, and not a Western Hognose.

You could most definately get Crested Gecko. I know of someone who breeds her own Crested Geckos.

About interest in an Ornate, I think you can definately get one. They only need 10 gallons of terrarium space and are very easy to care for. I hope you do get one. When they age, their colors can be a dark awesome red like mine.

In a year or so, I'll hopefully be moving somewhere where I'll be allowed to keep a Crested. I just adore them. I don't really even care what phase it is. They're just so expensive!! @_@ I don't know if I could afford a 40$ gecko!!

I actually already have a ten gallon tank! It's not in use right now. I can't remember, do Ornates hibernate?

I'm still very new to keeping animals- I've been catching them since I was a toddler but I was never allowed to actually keep any. :c So I'm trying to start out with easy things. I feel awful when I accidentally step on snails, so killing a frog or lizard would be truly horrific. xD;

Ornates do not have to hibernate/astievate especially when they are less than a year old. Astievation can be avoided by keeping the humidity up and the temps correct. They are doing alot of growing when less than a year old and shed alot. They should be kept at 80F-85F during the day on the warm side and 72F-79F on the cool side. The whole terrarium can be kept at 72F-79F during the night. Give them coco fiber and they will be happy if it is kept moist with a water dish avaiable. I know a Crested can live happily in a 10 gallon as well. Breeder's have deals and you can easily obtain a Crested for less than $40.

Really?! That would be awesome!!

I'm really debating between an Ornate horned frog and a Crested gecko. I'm fairly certain I won't be allowed to have both, haha. Of course, this is assuming my ADFs and betta will still be around in a year... I hope they are. :c But I'm so used to taking care of more expressive animals, where you can tell visually if they're happy or not, it's hard to tell if they're okay.
