hey everyone,

so i have noticed that one of my WTFs (avery) is pretty overweight. the fold over her ears is very defined. how would you all suggest dieting her?

normally i put 5/6 crickets in every few days for both of my frogs, but i noticed that avery is very fast and good at hunting them down. lucas will eat 2 and lose interest in them. i know she eats more of them than he does, which is why she must be so large...

suggestions?

happy weekend!

Happy weekend to you too!

Do you feel comfortable taking Lucas out for seperate more frequent feedings? Or possible using the "tweezer" method and holding the food in front of Lucas so he gets more?

Also, in my opinion from looking at your cute pictures of your two WTFs on your other post, Avery is not overweight but looks healthy. Maybe others can give their opinion also...

those pics were a little old... i'll upload a new one so you can see shes gotten pretty big!
i think i could take lucas out... i have a smaller plastic tank, but its not setup, just used for like momentary transport....

Oh sure, feeding your frogs quarters! LOL!

Personally, I see that Avery is a bit "plump" but not terribly so that I would worry now. Her look is part of the reason that White's are called Dumpy tree frogs. I would keep an eye on her though to make sure she doesn't become obese as far as WTFs go.

As far as feeding Lucas outside the tank, I meant just a quick transfer to another area where he is able to eat without Avery taking all his dinner. Then put him back in the normal tank after he has eaten a few. I personally don't do this due to the stress factor on taking them out and handling them often.

I am hoping others that do seperate feedings can help you some more on how to best do this.

Your female looks a lot like mine except my Xander has more spots. Cute!

yea, I mean Avery does look plump, but not obese. They both look pretty healthy to me, so unless the one gets too skinny or the other seems to be getting too big, don't really change what you're doing.

Another thing to consider is that most WTF females are larger than the males.
