I saw that when I was looking up something some months ago and almost posted it ... pretty amazing.

It's like when people think everyone of another race looks the same. Here someone thinks all frogs look the same ...

Dear Mr. Winters,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us on this subject. We really
appreciate it.

As we are not experts in this area, we do sometimes have a difficult
time identifying certain species.

Additionally, many statutes fail to identify a selected symbol in
scientific terms so we are left to make assumptions. The Louisiana
statute is one of these. There is little doubt however that Hyla
cinerea was the intended species in this case.

We'll rectify the situation on our web page.

Again, we really appreciate that you took the time to write.

Best,
John Mucci

This is the first paragraph of the state amphibian page...

On April 12, Louisiana State Senators Jon D. Johnson and John J. Hainkel introduced Senate Bill 435 promoting adoption of the Green Treefrog, Hyla cinerea, as the official state amphibian of Louisiana. The bill was a result of a yearlong contest held at the Louisiana Nature and Science Center where student visitors voted for their favorite amphibian. The Gulf Coast Herpetological Society also played a role in ensuring that Louisiana had an official state amphibian.

Indeed, they have in no way stated the state frogs name in scientific terms... At least it will be corrected, or so they say

It looks like they stated it loud and clear on line two word seven and eight "Hyla cinerea". Isn't that the scientific name?

um... They have not changed the photo in question. Photo two is an Australian tree frog (Litoria caerulea, or commonly called a Whites tree frog). The other two photos are American Green tree frogs (Hyla cinerea, or Green tree frog). The site has not been changed yet, I received that email response this afternoon.

Give me a link if you would then, because I've followed the same link at the top of this thread, and also removed the top frame, refreshed the page. Started fresh from their homepage, navigated my way back to the same page, and I still see the same photos.

If they wanted to use online pictures, it seems they would have used the scientific name. Oh well....
