I used the old standby, calamine lotion. You hafta fight the urge to itch it, because that makes it worse

You can also try some Benadryl - topical and/or oral or some hydrocortizone cream as well. And if you're one for "soaking" baths, add some oatmeal to your bath water. Hope this helps.

Sheryl, there are a good amount of people who just aren't sensitive to poison ivy and it's relatives. I'm pretty sure I've walked through some, too, but have never gotten it.

As for rememdies, I with Becki--Benadryl and oatmeal baths. Maybe some aloe would help it heal, but that's just something I'm throwing out from my head, not something I've heard you should do or anything.

Feel better and Good luck!!!!

Soak in a nice warm bath with vinegar. It will sooth the itching and help dry up the rash. Follow up with (this will sound weird) diaper rash cream.

I heard cortisone cream works well. Not sure though...

However, I have had jellyfish wrap around my leg once when I was surfing... had to treat it with almost boiling hot water and lots of salt to supress the wound growth. Not sure if the same treatment can help poison oak though.

Jellyfish wrap ! f*ck I bet that's really bad. I never ever touched one of those but I can remember my dad telling me not to touch the ones on the beaches when I was a kid... you know when you're a kid you certainly want to do what's forbidden :P But I never did.

If it wrapped around your leg, it was most likely a man-o-war, I would think. Where were you?

Well I can tell you that if anyone outta a group who gets poison Ivy its me. I am verty sensative to it. I got poison Ivy from my neighbors burning it 1/4 mile away, that is how easy it is for me to get it.

As in helping it dry up try using the same stuff you use under your arms in the morning; And yes I am talking abouit antiperspert deotarant. Anti Deotarant is used to draw and soak up mosture and that is what it does to poison ivy. We all know that when you get it the poison ivy gets all filled with jiuce and so if you rub some anti pers. deotarant on it it will help dry it out. This really works also I used it and helps get rid of it alot faster then usen calomine lotion. When I used it I used clear stick so that way you do not look all wierd with white stuff on your arm or legs and plus clear stick goes on ALOT easier then the white antipersparant deotarant.

hope this helps and let me know how it goes

yeah i have been using caldryl, it usually does the trick for me. I was just wondering if there was a secret trick. I might try the anipersperant thing. maybe do that on one leg and use calardryl on the other. see which one works quicker.

I was in Santa Cruz at the time during a red tide.
