A few nights ago,I realized I had run out of crix on feeding night yet again.(only 2 left) So i went out to the yard, sprayed the hose on the ground and went back out 20 mins later(it was nighttime) and was expecting earhtworms to pop up but there were none. All there were was SLUGS everywhere as usual. I was thinking about it, but was afriad of the slimy coating on them, that it may be toxic. So does anyone know if they actually are safe? That would be really convenient, but I imagine theyre fatty. Thanks!

I've seen salamanders eat slugs so I would guess they are safe for frogs. Can you find any small grass hoppers? My froglets have been going crazy for them.

I read on a few sites that slugs are eaten by amphibians. The only thing I would be concerned about is a transfer of parasites, So I would just be careful. I also read that they can be on the fatting side so I wouldn't offer them too often.

ya what ella said. I have read that slugs can get parasites in them by eating poop from other animals that have parasites and then when the slug eats it the parasite then lives in the slub and then another bird eats the slug and a new host is introduced to the parasite. I would not even risk doing that to my frogs at all giving them anything that could be harmful and possably deadly to them.

slugs... yuk! I bought a kids bug catching net from the dollar store, I just swipe it over the grass in my yard a few times and catch grasshoppers galore!! most are tiny, but some are big enough for my big guys. My baby toads love the little ones.

We actually just made out oun net last night out of a broom handle, wire clothes hanger and an old pillow case LOL We can't get bugs from our grass though because they spray aroud here. But we are going to up to the park on the weekend and grab some bugs. We are getting low on crickets and money so we are going to try and catch some before having to scrape up some cash to buy crickets.

Warning! Never, EVER feed toadlets, or froglets ants! I tried this yesterday and it was a huge mistake! I place three small ants in with one of my american toadlets, and they immediately started to attack him! They also were attacking the fruit flies in there. I will never try that again!

I HATE ants!! Which reminds me, I have to call the front office for pest control. All this rain has the ants heading indoors. YUCK! Last thing I need is an infestation again, especially now that we have crickets!

We had an infestation in my WTF's cage, they were going to his water bowl. I took the frog out and replaced the substrate and got them all out. I think he's pretty stressed right now, since I had to move him until I can figure soemthing out. But luckily they didn't go near him. Also, the pet store near here ran out of fruit flies, so I had to go a lot farther for some.....but the ants got in somehow, and killed them all. My frogs haven't eaten for 2 days, I think my fruit flies that i ordered are coming tomorrow so it should be fine. I HATE ANTS!!
