Well, Im a cool-cat now,I've got a tadpole. LOL. I was showing my 12 year old sister the pictures of Heathers RETF tads, and she was asking me all kinds of questions,so I figured Id grab one of the ones in work we had for her. There was one single one left,so i scooped it up. It is a Bullfrog taddy, not sure what we're going to do if it survives. Probably keep him, we will see. BUt anyways, right now we have him in a shallow fish bowl. I have a 15 gallon tank downstairs i will set up tomorrow, hanlf land, half water for when he morphs. Do these guys need to have a filter,or air circulation?Or is it okay if the water is standing. I will be keeping it clean of course. Also, I've been giving him just fish flakes, thats what hes been eating in the store too, what else can i give him? I red the whole RETF caresheet thing, but things may be different because it is a Bullfrog. Thanks for any advice you guys can give me!

Bullfrogs can take quite awhile to morph (up to 2 years)so be ready for a long commitment. It will need lots of clean water, you don't have to have a filter but at least use an airstone and frequent water changes.Feed it boiled lettuce, algea waffers, shrimp pellets and maybe frozen bloodwroms.
You can use a full water tank until it gets front legs, its a lot easier to clean that way, also use lots of plants (like you would use for fish)it can hide/eat them.Bull frogs are really neat but they need a very big tank when full grown,I always turn my bull froglets loose but they are native here.

hey sheryl congrats, but keep in mind that not only do they take a long time to morph they get huge. you will need at least a 75 gal.. mine is about 10 inches wide and long and almost 4 lbs. just be very aware. lol

woah! 2 years. woaahhhhhhh. Its ok. Im using one of those little elite200 jobbers, i guess thatd be an airstone, it says its a filter, but i dont see how it could be. I set him up in the 15 gallon, 1/4 land 3/4 water. put some fake plants for him to hide in,and paper towel substrate on the land part. 2 years, wow. i still cant get over that! we may turn him loose, depending on what my sister wants to do i guess. we're goign to be making a pond in my back yard sometime in the near future,so maybe he can be an inhabitant.this was the slowest morpher of all the tadpoles, which is why he was the last one left.hes only got itty bitty back legs, and all the others were already growing their front arms. its been warm, so the tank temp is warmer too. we will see what happens and ill keep yous updates with pics and all, eventhough bullfrogs arent as exciting as RETF! Im still happy.
