When I changed my WTF water yesterday, there was too poos in the water which is normal as you all would know.

However they were covered in a white mucousy like substnce and the water ws cloudy and milky.

I scrubbed the bowl with bleach and sterilized it in hot water and finaly put it back in.

This morning I checked the water again and another poo was in there, again covered in a white mucousy slime.

Whats going on? Anyone had this? Does this mean there is something wrong?

I've never had that problem before, but I would initially get him off the crickets or whatever food he's eating. There might be something wrong with the feeders. Good luck with everything and I hope it's all OK.

Thomas thanx for that I'll try it, I can't think of anything else it could be because their water is clean everyday.

Do you thin kit could be from his shedding? When they shed they eat it so maybe that could be the slimy stuff? I woudl do the same as Thomas has suggested and change him off of the feeders you have currently. Were they anything different?

Thanks Sheryl but I know it's not their shedding because I know what that looks like. I have never seen this before in the 3 years that I have had them.

I'm trying not to be gross lol but I have to try and explain exactly what I saw.

Their poos were covered in a white snotty like film and the water has gone cloudy and milky.

I have got a different bacth of crix now so we'll see what happens, I might even seperate them while I figure it out.

I'm not sure. I get a film in the water if I don't change it everyday. But the poo's they leave in there dont turn whiteish.

Shrek, I wish I had the answer to this question but I unfortunately like you have never come across this before. I suppose a fecal could maybe be needed - if any types of parasites could cause this. I know I'm not of much help but I will ask around and research a bit to see if I can come up with anything. I'll get back to you as soon as I find something out.

Hello, all. Thanks Derek and Becki for telling me about this post.
I have had this experience with my largest Whites before, and freaked out totally. I took her out, separated her, and fished out the coated stool. and some of the water. The frog however seemed fine and was merely agitated that I disturbed her. I took the stool to the vet, who had never examined anything like it before. He later told me that the only odd thing about it was that the skin cell count was way up, leading him to believe that it was wrapped in skin that had expanded and taken on that appearance due to being submerged in water. I wasn't satisfied, and prepared for the worst, but after two or three similar stools, the problem disappeared on its own.
Now, by no means am I saying that waiting it out is the thing to do, but this was quite a while ago, and SweetPea is showing no ill affects. I can only think of the...odd...forms that human fecal matter can take. If you have a good vet, you might want to take in the poop if you are like me and really, truly and definitively want to get to the bottom of it. Throughout the whole ordeal, SweetPea was behaving like her normal bipolar self. I may have been a bit more aggressive had her behavior changed. I just wanted to share that, and although I cant offer you a solution that just screams "Eureka, that's it!" I can tell you I've been there before! It not just something that happens to your froggies! Good luck though, and my the force be with you!!

Shrek, it could be a number of things. So as not to worry you some lesser examples could be; A minor parasite. If the problem persists, take some stool to the vet for evaluation.
A minor bacterial or viral infection; If the problem persists, once again, take a sample of the affected stool to the vet for further examination.
Some simple oraly administered drugs may be prescribed which are relatively inexpensive and the a temporary warm sterile enclosure would be needed.

Watch for behavioral changes such as lethargy, feeding changes frequency of defication etc.
If the frog is "using the bathroom" during the day several times or if you are noticing large quantities of fecal matter in the water, your going to want to make sure that the frog stays extra moist, and that the water dish is cleaned thoroughly. Diarhea leads to dehydration and dehydration leads to all sorts of problems. Make sure plenty of water is available.

If you are not noticing any other symptoms, than I would wait a few days. It is likely just a minor viral or bacterial infection that should clear up on it's own. Just be sure and monitor the environment extra closely.

Best,
~Tiger

Thank you so much guys, Becki, Whit and Tiger.

This morning their water was clear with no poos in it. I am going to feed them tonight.

Both were down and climbing around last night so I guess that rules out lethargy. They both look a nice colour still.

I still clean their bowl out every day and make sure it is full.

I will continue to do all this and after feeding them tonight I'll see what happens. My suspicion was parasitic or bacterial so we'll have to see.

Thank you for your examples Whit, I was hoping someone had had this happen to them before. I just have never read about it thats all.

Thank you so much guys
