My newly morphed baby Leopard frog seems to be shedding, but I am new to frogs and what to make sure it isn't something more serious or if I have to take it out and quarentine it.

Lastnight I noticed when it was swimming around (it's not on land yet BTW still has a bit of tail left to absorb) and this clear slimmy stuff was falling off of it's body.

Now I just had a tadpole die yesterday of unknown causes (I don't think it was well and didn't appear to be eating or growing and I've had it for nearly two months before it finally gave up)

Do frogs shed after morphing?

I'm not sure on that but if they still have tail to absorb the probably wont eat. And are you using declorinated water? What are you keeping them in? How is your setup?

heather, these are the frogs mark helped you with correct? if they are i would say your witnessing it's 1st shed. but also make sure you change out the water that was there when freckles died. (that was his name right) If he was sick it's still in the water. I don't know about shedding after morphing but my bullfrog is pretty much in constant shed.

Dana, yes these are the same frogs. I changed the water and cleaned everything right after I found Freckles.

I thought it kind of looked like it was shedding because it's color didn't look "off" but it did look a little brighter and after the "slim" floated off in it's swimming about it did look "clean" so to speak. I just didn't see it with the others so I wasn't sure.

Thanks folks!

Dana, No problem with the updates here. Tiny is on land now and it must have been shedding because it's all nice and shinny and it's colors look so fresh.

I have pictures up and will be adding more in a few mins if you haven't seen them. Some are the same as I had put on KS only a little bigger and a few new ones.
