Hey Guys! I have a wonderful person taking care of my frogs while I'm away for a few months, and she's been taking great care of them! [If you know any of my previous posts, these are the guys that were originally having a very hard time in the north with a different person taking care of them. They were shipped to me and recovered well!]
However... Today Blazkowikz passed away. He seemed healthy, so we have no clue what happened! Here's what I've been told:
"He and Hoss and Ivan were all happy and singing last night hunting crickets. Blazk was hogging the water dish the last couple of days but he sometimes would do that after a fresh batch of crickets (we feed them every Wednesday). This morning Hoss and Ivan burrowed themselves into the moss and plantation soil and Blazk slowly moved onto the half log then into the corner behind it and went to sleep. Roger and I went out for groceries, we were gone about two hours. I checked on the frogs when we got home (it's become a habit to just check them every time I walk into the front room) and I could see that Blazk had passed away.
I changed the substrate just last Tuesday and only use what you recommended. I made sure there were no clumps and I change their water daily. I did manage to locate the Exo Terra liquid vitamins so I did not have to use the Flukers brand liquid vitamins. I powdered the crickets with the vitamin stuff as per instructions and everything seemed normal.
He really seemed to enjoy the environment and would sing at the drop of a hat, like when I vacuumed or Roger blew his nose. True story. The only thing I noticed any different is that he was just a little more lethargic than usual but still hogging the water dish and eating well."
Blazk and his friends live in a 36" x 18" x 36" tank and get their light turned off at night and on during the day. The three frogs went through a very rough year and a half while I was away and when I came back they were skin and bones. In the last year they have been brought back to health.
My only thought would be old age. I got Blazk back in 2009 and he was the same size back then.
Any thoughts about what may have happened I would be thankful for. Hoss and Ivan seem to be acting normally.

It may have been age. I will say a sick frog typically does a lot of soaking.

Starvation can cause liver damage, which can eventually take a frog who seems to be recovering, too. That also happens with humans. Livers are tricky. Just a guess.
