I have recently had a mass epidemic with my frogs, and no amount of cleaning and decontaminating has seemed to help. I am unfortunately down to one frog now because of how quickly it affected them, and it's been devistating to me and my fiancÚ, who got so attached to them. With my baby pacman frogs, it was so sudden that I had just started to notice a behavior change, and then the next morning they had passed away. My WTFs got the green-spots-of-doom and nothing I did seemed to help. I have one WTF left, and she has been a fighter. There is no vet in my area that deals with amphibians, so I try to make do with what I can. I am beginning to believe that whatever this disease or infection may be, it was spread by crickets from my local pet shop. That is the only possible connection between the cages.

But my main question is, does anyone know an antibiotic that I can order online or request from a vet even if they don't do amphibians? I know I've heard one mentioned but I can't remember what it was called or if it might be available online. Also, how would I administer it to my frog.

It pains me to have to post this, but I really don't want to lose them all. Thank you for any help you can offer!

Does Dr Frye still help froggers online? Have you emailed him yet with symptoms and pictures yet?

What OTC meds have you tried with them so far?

I don't know about Dr. Frye, and I didn't think to take pictures post mortum, so I haven't ever mailed him. It happened very suddenly too, so there wasn't much time.

I haven't tried any OTC meds yet because I know it is internal. They have no legions or sores, so I couldn't use Neosporin. I've just been trying to keep everything sterile and clean.

I saw Baytril, but I don't know what kind I would need to get and how to apply/use it.

Baytril you can use in a bath and in your spray bottle. 0.3 of 1 cc to a gallon of water is what is commonly used, for 7-10 days or so. You mix that once, and it should be good for the whole treatment.
You can also do 0.3 of 1 cc to a 1/2 gallon of water for severe cases.

Baytril OTIC is an ear medication that has SSD in it, and you can apply that directly to the skin.

Tetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic that can be used.
API Tetracycline

I also know of people using Erythromycin to treat their frogs. I believe this one was used on some Dwarf Pyxies that I got in a few years ago from the company I got them from.

What does her poop look like? Is it normal? or runny? is it noticeably smelly?

Sandy has given the doses I always used and suggested for years. All I can add is I suggest the injectable form, 2.27% listed on the packaging.Has your water source been playing with additive mix rates such as Chloramine or Fluoride?Baytril is from your dog vet.I don't get on hear much so you can look me up on Facebook or Dendroboard if you need more help and I fail to get back to this site, good luck, Bill Schwinn

Thank you very much for the information!

I'm happy to report that my WTF is showing no signs of infection. I have cleaned and gotten new climbing limbs and suction limbs for the sides of the tank. And she has a completely new water bowl. I've been watching her like a hawk, but she seems to be doing fine.

After a bit of time I may get a few new WTFs to give her some companions (after quarantine of course).

Thank you for all your help!
