Last Thursday my step dad brought me home a frog he found in one of his shipments he had for work from spokane and i believe it is a pacific tree frog but am not sure, I live in North Idaho. I put it in a 10 gallon tank with some eco earth soil stuff, a fake bush, a bowl thing with water in it i got from the pet store, and a big branch. I also got a dozen crickets for him and he hasn't eaten in two days and i'm kinda worried because I heard some of the frogs on here eat up to 4 crickets a day:confused. My grandpa said he would go to the pet store tomorrow and get more supplies and some other bugs for him, but I need some advice from other people with frogs!

He is probably just stressed from the move to the new tank. Cover 3 sides of his tank with paper and give him some time to settle in. Wait a few days before trying to feed him again. Also, make sure his food is dusted with suppliments like Rep-cal and Herptivite.

I wouldn't worry Liam is more than likely correct It is common for frogs to get stressed Just cover three sides and do not handle him unless necessary this will cause more stress and stress kills frogs! Welcome to the frog!!

The size of the crickets might be significant here ..... if they are larger than the space between the frog's eyes (do I have that right folks?) then they are too big for him.

Little mealworms, available from a pet store, can be a good choice because the frog will eat them (from a small bowl) at its leisure.

I really don't like mealworms as a good food choice simply because they can be hard to digest and I hear that the heads should be popped off before giving them to the frogs since they bite and can bite them on the inside too. (Correct me if I'm wrong) I just avoid them and find smaller crickets or use small earth worms and other soft bodied bugs.

Huh .... I've never had a problem with the little worms, but what you say makes sense in theory anyway.

Nonetheless, my frogs crave them and will choose them when worms and crix are offered at the same time ......could be they are lazy, too.

Thanks guys, she has been eating much more lately and swimming alot more then when i first had her but i wanna know how often i should change her soil stuff she has been in it for only about 5 days though. I asked the guy at the pet store and he said the worms could eat her insides if not digested correctly so i just got some of the mini crickets and she seems to like them. I also bought some vitamin supplements for them too.
