Got a Giant Pyxie. About 3 1/2 to 4 inches currently and eating like crazy. Eats 2 or 3 decent sized nightcrawlers per night. Want to know if this too much, too little, or just right. Dont want to screw this up. Giants can be hard to come by around here.

I feed mine as much as they want in about a 10-15 minute period.

Just wondering how much do you feed them during that period?

That depends on the type of feeder you are feeding, also the size of the feeder, and the size of the pyxie.

Eats 2 or 3 decent sized nightcrawlers per night.
Stick with that, and every once in a while offer 4 and see how he takes that, if that goes good, then up his feeding. If he's having trouble keeping the worms down (they keep crawling back out), then keep it at 2 or 3 for the time being.

If you are going to be using nightcrawlers as a staple feeder, I suggest looking into getting some European Nightcrawlers. They aren't as big as the Canadian Nightcrawlers, but they are very easy to culture, and you would have your own supply of food available to him at all times.
You would also know what his food has been eating too.

"Eisenia hortensis" is the scientific name. I just picked some up from our local petsmart because I had to restart my colony, they were called "Canadian Trout Worms" and were also labelled as Red Wrigglers 24 in a box.
These are great little worms, and they can be kept out at room temperature.

Depends on the feeder and the frog. When froglets, I let them eat til they are full, then as sub-adults I let them eat all they can in about 15 minutes. usually they eat a dozen or so Canadian nightcrawlers, or maybe a couple dozen roaches.

Froglets I feed until they stop really attacking their prey. This is the stage of life that they need to eat all they want for best growth.

Froglets in the wild forage for food for hours in the morning as well as at night.

Use as varied a diet as possible. Crickets, roaches, nightcrawlers, krill, the occasional rodent or bird are good as well, but not to be fed too much or too often. Every couple of months is plenty.

Im planning on sticking with nightcrawlers, roaches, crickets, hornworms, and silk worms. Perhaps fish when i can get the right ones. Have no intention to feed rodents or birds.

Fish are not good feeders for pyxies. It's not part of their natural diet.

Good to know. You can consider them off the list as well.
