would it be ok to take a branch or something from one of the dead tree clippings that i have in my backyard and put it in the tank i have for my tadpoles??? the wood is completely dried out its been out there for over a year and i would take the bark off it and then boil it....... its just im sooo paranoid that they are going to sprout of front legs over night and then ill wake up to them drowned..... like would they be able to climb up that if i put it on a diagonal??????? that way if they needed to get outta water they could.... im not going to be able to get to a pet store for drift wood until sat.. and i dont know what else i can use to make them a ramp and i dont have there new tank ready yet.... .................... i think one of them has arms!!!!!!!! omg he didnt have arms an hour ago!!!!

That sounds good if you boil it (and that's all you can think of to put in there.

Someone else should write soon maybe with a better idea.

OK so here is what i did... i found a good sized stick in the back yard that is naturally on a diagnal, i took some very fine sandpaper and buffed that thing like a mother... ya you get it.. until everything ran nice a clear. if i were a boyscout i swear id get a badge of some sort. then i put in under scolding water and then i drenched it in dechlorinated water. an put it in the tank the top of the stick "sticks" out a good inch or so with a bit that sticks out from that so they have a nice little space to sit...

do you think they'll figure it out haha. was this a good thing to do? until tomarrow...

If you could I would go to the pet store and get some wood or rocks or just a tree. The wood might start to rot, Especially because its in water. be carful because if it does start to rot it could contaminate the water. good luck

Also, I'd want to mention that if it's cedar, that can be fatal, no matter if it's dried out or not. Just an aside there.

ohh ... well...... it doesnt seem to be mucking up the water and i have a little hose thingy that i suck up all the uneaten food and poo with so im always on top of that so i would be able to see if the water was getting all icky plus there is a filter in the tank. the wood isnt cedar.. i wouldnt even know where to get cedar anywhere near me we just have maple trees. the same that grow where the marsh is. i plan on getting something at the pet store tomorrow i just needed something for the time being!!

I'm in a rush so I didn't read the thread, but just cook your oven to 385 degrees Fahrenheit and stick the log in there for ten minutes. That should kill everything on it, without starting a fire.
