I just got a whites tree frog from a friend of my moms her son was keeping it in his LOCKER!! at school in a fish tank half full of water...
I have had frogs before and i made a setup for it but what should i use for lighting?

Lighting is not necessary other than what is in the room, but florescent would work.

Whites don't really need a photo period so the lighting is just there to set up a day time atmosphere.

I would say stay away from incandescent lighting just because it can over heat and dry out the tank quickly.

If You use a florescent light You dont need to go out and buy the high dollar UV bulb from the pet store, I would go get the nice cheep buld from the Home Depot!
