Hey guys,

Just curious if anyone is expecting anything to do with frogs for Christmas? Maybe even some new frogs?
I hope to get 2 new books.

Well I don't know what exactly, but I'm sure I will get something frog themed, maybe even a corn snake. For my birthday (in Sept) my friend gave me a box of frog stuff-books, stickers, magnets, carved wooden frogs and a stuffed animal dart. Another friend gave me more frog stickers (i have a sticker collection heh--kid at heart!) and yet another friend got me a carved stone frog. Getting a sweet little collection going! As much as I would love some more real frogs though, I have no room at the moment, unless I start sleeping in a tank, which doesnt sound all that bad...

derek, I have the atlas. I love that book. It is a staple for the herp keeper. I found it used on amazon for 30 bucks!!! The treefrogs of africa book is very nice, I always see it at the expo's, but never get it.

I asked hubby to get me the striped form reed frog, Afrixalus Dorsalis, as they have one in a petstore near us. He said, we'll see...but that means most likely yes. lol I suppose I'll have to wait and see. I would like to look into that tree frogs of africa book too. Most likely I'll end up buying that for myself.

chazz gomez, you had me very confused with your reply...until I looked back at sdnavy's 49.5.

Derek, I have no clue about what I may expect (with exception of my aunt. A bonsai mag. renewal).

I was looking to buy the Atlas online used. The Treefrog of
Africa
looks interesting. I will have to keep my eye open for it. I generally like to see the books before buying.

Derek, that ATLAS is an AMAZING book. I have it in work, and I swear by it. Although it is a little outdated, it is sooooo interesting. They retail pretty expensive( I got mine for $99), but it is definately worth it. Good luck, I hope ya get it.

Didn't read it all above, but Derek, The Atlas is the shiznizzle. Got it at work. Second book looks real familiar, but I don't think I've checked it out.

Sweet, got the Atlas, treefrogs if Africa, and this book:

Also a few spiral notebooks, because mom's tired of all of the terrarium drawings scattered everywhere. Got some clothes as well. We've got some family here, good times.

How about you guys?

Well, I got some earrings, a new pair of shoes (when the old ones leak thats bad), a new journal, some essential oils, some Sideshow/WETA polystones (LOTR related of course) and some other odds and ends. My mother and I are still cooking, Zoe got a whole bunch of noisy flashy toys, and I'm trying to talk everyone into to having a trilogy E(xtended) E(dition) marathon. If you watch them all back to back, thats like 12 hours of Tolkien/Jackson goodness. Yum.

Where do you live? Will you be able to take advantage of that sailboat?

I received a Flying Gecko (Ptychozoon kuhli) and it's beautiful! I don't have any pictures yet, but I'm housing it with my Golden Malayan Gecko: .

In case you don't care whether or not you see my individual gecko, here's a reference picture of the flying gecko:

I got tons of stuff (including being pooped on by my beardie lol) and my strut bars should be here this week. Hubby delayed in ordering them. Lots of froggie related stuff, one very pretty vase. I'll have to take a pic and post it. Yippee for perfume and body sprays/lotions (I'm an addict too Sheryl) and Vicki's and Best Buy gift cards...but I'm going to go crazy in Vicki's....gotta smell good AND have sexy undergarments. lol

Spawn the flying gecko looks awesome! I've never seen one of those before.

I got a "book" written by my two teenage kids entitiled, Dealing with Your Teenage Treasures: How to Raise us to be Happy, if not Particularly Useful Citizens. It has advice in it like "What should you have said when we trashed the truck?" The correct answer is: "That's OK kids, I'll just buy a new one." Then, "What did you reallysay when we trashed the truck? They quoted me verbatim, but I'm unable to repeat it here, or I'd get banned from this forum. Anyway, it's full of this stuff, and is really funny. I think they should publish it, after inventing some imaginary names for Ariel and me, of course, disguising our identities. They actually put a lot of work, thought and skill into teasing us. It would have been easier for them to just go buy me a necktie or some such thing I don't need or want and would never use. Instead, they wrote a "book" about how we deal with each other. It's the best Christmas gift either Ariel or I have ever had.

I wish I had gotten something made by the two hands of someone I know Then again, kind of hard to make a piece of art like a gecko that is slim enough to have a silhouette parallel to a tree trunk and wide enough to glide six feet horizontally while being four feet off the ground.

A friend of mine has a flying gecko. It layed 2 eggs on the glass of the terrarium in the first month he had it. They weren't fertile, because there was no male present, but still cool. Maybe you'll have success when/if you seperate it from that golden thing and put in the opposite sex?

I got some gift certificates to some herp stores in the area. I got some sort of jelly sticky frog things that you can throw on the wall and they stick for a day and then fall off into people's hair when you least expect it. I kinda like 'em.

Oh, and Lee, thats so cool of your kids. I used to make my dad stuff like that all the time, picking on him. He has saved every piece of it since i was little.
