well, i don't know if any of you remember me or not but i was here last year when my american green tree frog (puck) was bloated. he ended up passing away - probably from an impaction.
i posted under the name GreenGirl at the time, but i couldn't remember that until just now when i looked it up. so anyway i re-registered as hummingbird cuz it's the online name is use most often and i KNOW i'll remember it! lol!
so ANYWAY i thought i'd RE-introduce myself. my name's cynthia and i'm a 21 year old college senior double-majoring in psychology and biology. i'm gonna have to stay an extra year next year, though, to take a calc I, physics, and micobiology to finish up my bio major. i have no idea what i wanna do for a living, but i'd love to work with animals and/or kids. i'd love to breed endangered herps, but that's like saying "i wanna be an astronaut".
i personally own 1 white's tree frog (galahad) and a mississippi map turtle (geo). i also have 1 white's (dags) that i take care of in our biol dept's living collection. we have tons of herps there that i take care of. we also used to have a couple african claweds and some dwarf african claweds, but they have all passed.
my birthday's july 19, i collect turtle and frog stuff, and i love anything outdoors. i love to hike and camp and ride my bike and swim.
ok well that's me - hello again everyone! i'm hoping i'll be able to stick around longer this time!

cynthia

He's not an amazing lyricist... he's amazingly racist. Don't be fooled!

Anyway, I remember you a little, too. So, what school are you at/where are you located? I'm a bio-major at a local college and all the universities I know about require at least calc 2 and physics 2 for the AA or BA, I can't remember. Thankfully, where I'm going to apply just requires that (and the physics is without math) because the other universities near me require calc 3 and physics 2 with math. Ok, that didn't come out so clear, but it makes sense, right?

So, it's nice to hear from you... although I'm sorry about the pets of yours that passed.

Funny thing is you don't really use the math unless you do something weird like Biophysics. So don't let any math or physics prereqs. scare you off.

I also did the psych and bio thing. I suggest looking into if you can overlap stuff. Sometimes they'll let you overlap a bio psych class in a bio major depending on your school.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing... But, I guess it could be since a lot of bio majors do that before medical school, and some of those doctors will be more than just general practitioners and need the calculus. A lot of bio-related fields also happen to include engineering of some sort in them, too, and then it makes sense that it's required.

I'm not really too worried about it, though... I suck at "math", but I have my boyfriend to tutor me and I'm interested in learning

yeah biologists use some physics and some chem, but higher chem, higher phys, and anything above trig is absolutely useless and is just used as a "weeder" course - one that "weeds" out the people who are good at science but bad at math. it's a crock of sh*t.

trust me when i say you've *never* heard of my university. it's a tiny private one near cols.
