Unfortunately, that's all you will probably find. Goliaths are simply too rare and no one had been able to find enough of them to be able to provide photos or even reliable information. If I happen upon any I will pass them your way.

Thanks guys but All the other pictures I've come across exept the second one posted by Blink big thanks Blink. Does any one know maybe a magazine publication on these frogs?

Also I'm looking for a particular picture handed out by a guy named Andy (don't know his last name) who used to capture these frogs in the wild and bring them to the U.S. when it was still legal. He entered one of these in the Calvaras county frog jumping contests in 1990-1991 which brought on opposition from the contest orginizers eventualy they gave in and let him enter it to everyones dismay it didn't win (from what i've read so far is that these frogs walk and don't jump so most likley it was P.R. thing) . The picture i've heard of shows him holding two of the frogs. Any one have any info or pics please post?

Blink I belive the frog in the first picture is a pixie or (south african burrowing bullfrog) even though I had seen it on sites as a Goliath the reason I believe this is the shape, color and If you look close at the eyes they are white insted of brown.

I personally always wanted to enter a gliding frog in that jumping contest.

Anyway, a Golith Frog might be hard to do a report on. Most of the info I've seen boils down to them being really big highly aquatic ranid frogs on (cool mountian streams?)in Africa.

theyre pretty hard to find because they dont breed in captivity.

Brian, I was watching some show about the frog jumping contests, and years ago a Goliath frog blew them all away and won by a longshot. SInce then theyve been banned

it is not. it is a pixie frog. I have seen that frog. it is really big. No a big fan of that petshop though. They mostly focus on leopard geckos and designer snakes. Cool set up in the store though.

You could also check out the archives on Kingsnake. About a year ago under the frogs section some kid was insisting he had purchased a Goliath from the pet store and was going to make millions breeding it. He was way off base, and didn't have a Goliath at all, but as I recall, some others posted links to Goliaths. Cheshireycat may remember this, as I believe she was in on the arguement with him. I was just lurking, but as I recall, there were some good links with articles.

He just wouldn't qiit, no matter what anyone said or tried to help him get over his mania. He had all of these wonderfully imaginative, but wrong ideas. He may be our next president of the US.

I remember that, it was pretty funny. There were several people like that, a couple of which we got banned from there.

Oh, I definitely do remember him. It got to the point I'd get excited to see if he posted, it would make me laugh out loud every time. He just really thought he had the next best thing, and thought we believed him. Man, I think I'm going to look that thread up!

Do you remember his final excuse about failing to post a picture? He had posed his genuine "Goliath" frog on top of a big lizard of some sort to take the picture, and the lizard ate it before he could snap the picture.

I loved that one. It was pure entertainment. The kid should condider going on the stage or writing TV commercials.

No, no... THIS was my favorite post of his, in response to someone looking for "a very large frog":

Posted by: madmax444 at Tue Jul 15 16:12:30 2003 [ Email Message ]

try a goliath, i am a breeder of them so if you want one just e mail me, but im not sure when my next hatch will be. also, they arent normal ones they are a morph, i have a feeling they will also get larger than normal goliaths maybe 2 ft and 12lbs. So hopefully thats big enough for you. They will be $500, which is a very good deal because it is a morph.

I did a search for "goliath" in the 2003 archives. Fun!!

I remember that, he was trying to sell something he didn't have and he was trying to sell it before it even bred. Wasn't he looking for care info on it whne he came there?lol

I now do think that he was just pulling our cumulative legs, just saying whatever it is he thought we would freak about. He did a good job.
