I have been keeping some wood lice in hopes they would reproduce. I have them in coco fiber and feed them baby oatmeal cereal. The first time around, I was also putting carrot shavings in. Well, I ended up with little gnat type bugs also being in there. I assumed it was because of the carrots so I cleaned it out and started over with clean coco fiber and no longer put any carrots in. I now have these little flying bugs again. Is there any way to prevent this? It doesn't look like the wood lice have finally reproduced. At least I am hoping that is what the little bugs I am seeing are. Otherwise I am going to be overrun by the little flying bugs. I also occasionally get a few of these bugs in my vivarium. What are they?

They are just fungus gnats. Inevitable.

Isopod cultures take a long time to get going.

Since this thread was brought up again, I will update. I have many young wood lice now. It did take a while, but was well worth the wait.
