What do you think would be the best formula to make "tadpole tea" for a species of PDF? Would you use those indian almond leaves or just blackwater mixture? Does anyone have any expereince with making it from their own mixture? Thanks

I hope this is not a variation of the "frog soup" that guests who want to tease me discuss before visiting my precious darlings ...

Nah Jennifer, tadpole tea is the name for the water that many people raise dart frog tads in. It's called that because of the brownish color that the leaf tanins turn the water. Not sure which method is best as I've heard many different recipes. You might have better luck if you checked dendroboard.

I personally use aged tap water in gallon jugs. In each jug i place soem crumble from the almond tea leaves and just let it sit. the leaves will eventually leach their tannins into the water.
I also have had just as much luck using regular old aged tap water with no tea leaves or extract added.

I sometimes go to my own little world, but that's okay, they know me there

I use blackwater extract with the Hyla (dendrophus) marmorata tadpoles. Seems to work fine, they should morph in a week or so and I have only had them about two weeks and got here with no legs whatsoever.

I let my tank (rubbermaid) set up a couple days, then prime and blackwater. Have a sponge filter and pothos in there. The water doesn't look that discolored from it. They shit ALOT as they are carnivorous and like pulling crickets under the water and ripping them apart

How many marm tads did you get? Have you lost any?
