I have little morfing frogs i know they dont need to eat anything now because they still have their tales, but i wanted to know if, when they can eat, can they eat sugar ants or little ants, like the kind you might acasianlly find in your kitchen??

If so, how do i place the ants in their cage? And will they eat the ants if the ants are dead?

If your yard is pesticide free, I don't see why not. However most frogs and toads will not eat ants, I think it has something to do with the hair on the ant's exoskeletons.

Most frogs and toads will not eat prekilled food, it has to be moving for them to recognize it as a food item.

Take the ants from whatever you collect them in and sprinkle them in the enclosure, however there is nothing stopping the ants from crawling out of the enclosure and getting lose in your house.

I don't think that ants are a very good food item. I've not seen any studies but with their hard exoskeletons it seems they would be high in chitin and a risk of compaction.

Earthworms are easy to breed, easy to collect and very nutritious. Earthworms make a great staple diet, they can be high in calcium, low in chitin. If you want an easy food, cut up some earth worms.

American toads around my house love the ants. Especially when the hordes are out for mating, the toads come near the mounds and eat 'em up. Darts also eat ants in the wild. I've tried feeding my darts ants (obviously completely different ones from the ones in their respective ecosystems), but I think the problem was that the ants do not move as sporradically as fruit flies do, so eventually about 30 ants would surround one frog and it wouldn't even go for the ants anymore, after downing 30 of them. And I knew they weren't full because I would dump in some fruit flies afterwards and they'd go nuts as usual. Ants are an okay item if you have nothing else, but I agree with Kitten in that in my experience, they don't seem to have enough meat on their bodies to do anything but be filler until something meatier comes around like crix or flies.
