I found approx. 120+ mantella milotympanum tapoles in their enclosure last week.

three separate clutches close together from three different females.

the clutches will be raised separately. I think there is only one male fertilizing them ( there is only one dominant male presently)

updates to follow with pictures as they mature

It's about time! Put me on the top of that wait list! Ha,ha. Seriously though, I could even make the drive up and avoid shipping. Good luck and keep us posted! JVK

if any of these make it to froglet stage, I will be giving priority to people that can p/u

I dont ship frogs as much as regular breeders/enthusiasts do, so I think shipping would not be an option for me.

I will update as they go along

I am closer to Boise, then Payette... lol

I was on the fence about getting rid of them the entire time I had them up for sale, and decided at the last minute to keep them.. very glad that I didnt sell, for sure

Well, i'm way over in Oregon, but venture across the desert to Payette every couple years to visit friends etc.I went to school at Treasure Valley.I will certainly make a trip if all goes well. Good luck with the little ones, I can't remember how different Milos are as opposed to other Mantellas. I think they have a smaller morph out rate? Whatever the case, keep us posted and good luck!JVK

Forgot that you had a hard time with tads getting past the back leg stage. Have you tried a whole bunch of different control groups? Like, one tank with heavy tannins and cooler temps versus the opposite, different foods (protein vs vegetarian, UV vs no Uv, filtration vs no filtration, methylene blue vs no, tads in parent tank vs no, plants, water flow, cycled green water) etc, etc, etc. Should maybe give you a better shotgun approach to get some tads morphing, though it would take a lot of tupperware! Thanks JVK

Considering that these may no longer be an exportable frog from Madagasgar, any time in the near future, you may have saved these from
the event horizon of the frog black hole. ( I do remember this from when you first got them ) I hope things go well and those that have expertise will be avialable to assist. CONGRATS

I will be doing my best to ensure that these tadpoles are taken care of properly. I will be trying three different rearing methods as well, since there are three different groups.

and since I posted this on anther forum, a shot of their recently trimmed 55 gallon.

there is still more to be done to this tank..... I am thinking about a tree root butress in each corner and a better foam background

took a few pictures this morning... only one female was willing to co-operate though, looks as if she *may* be gravid again..

and a crappy picture of a few tadpoles... have had a loss of about 13 so far, mostly the weak and the smallest tads

forgot about this thread. all of this first batch perished. they would fatten up and then waste away. I did attribute this to the diet and supplimentation routine of the parents. So, I varied their diet even more, tried a few more suppliments and:

Voila! 50+ tadpoles were found in their tank a month ago tomorrow. I have only lost a handful and the remainder are growing like weeds. small back leg buds are apparent on all of them now. another 30 days or so and I should have the first F1 milotympanum froglets of this imported WC group of 7

tadpoles hit the one month mark today.

I also found these while feeding in their parents tank, I will leave them in there until they are ready to hatch

I think we are on week 6 right now..

back legs are fully formed, still small though..

tadpoles have doubled in size in the last two weeks.

they are all in different stages now. I have about 20 that look as though they will be out of the water very soon.. the other 30 or so have a while to go, and others in there look stunted..

I also need to whack back all of that creeping fig that has seemingly taken over the tank in what seems like overnight

Tank looks geat. But yea, if you dont take care of some of that now you may have a mess on your hands quite soon. Congrats. Arent you glad you didnt get rid of them befor. I would have picked them up if I had been in your area. I know you probably have people lining up for them but keep me in mind when you have froglets ready.

grand total of 39 froglets have emerged from this groups first laid clutch of this year .. their second clutch was a dud.

I am going to be selling them in about 2-6 weeks, local sales only at this point in time, I will ship at a later date if there are some left ( which there will be )
