So, I am new to this site and on my third question of the night. On a recent trip through Tennessee, my daughter begged me for a tadpole from my aunts pond. We ended up with 2 tadpoles and a green tree tadpole that lost it's tail and became a froglet 1 hour into our trip home! The GTF is doing well, but one of the tadpoles drowned after losing its tail and couldn't get out of the water - I didn't realize they lost their tails so quickly after getting their legs since his legs didn't seem THAT developed! So now the other tadpole is getting its legs and i'm not sure where to go from here as all my research has been for the urgent needs of the GTF and the tadpoles are pretty easy. I did put a large, rough rock in the tadpole habitat so he could get out. I THINK the tadpole is a Southern cricket frog (Acris gryllus), but I cant find any care sheets for this type of frog. HELP!

Post pictures? You should have 3 inches of water and a land area. Make sure the rock is not going to tip over if the froglet decides to hide under the rock. Ad a water plant or a land area... if you can. You want this froglet's emergence to be easy, not a challenge. As froglets they will absorb their tail and will not have to eat untill the tail is absorbed. The tail contains nutrients. All the froglets I have raised in the past never offered at food untill the tail was absorbed. You can gutload and offer pinhead crickets as food. Be sure to coat the insects with calcium: http://www.repcal.com/supp.htm Rep-Cal Herptivite Multivitamin and Rep-Cal Calcium.

I'm PRETTY sure this is what he will be when he becomes a frog as this was predominantly the frogs in the area and most of the tadpoles in the pond looked the same ( with the exception of the obvious tree frogs).
