back in november i got a tadpole randomly from meijer for 15 cents! went for a goldfish came out with 2 fish and a tad!! and named him tad. the fish have since died off but tad is going strong. i have never had a tadpole or frog in my life but actually am so excited to have him! i researched and am pretty positive that i have a american bullfrog. he has had his back legs since i got him and they are pretty small little legs. it has been about 2 months and no change in his appearance. i read it can take a good bit for them to turn into a frog but i was wondering what i can do with my aquarium to make him happier. he lives in a 5 gallon tank with gravel and fake plants. i am feeding him frozen boiled lettuce and have thrown in dried brine for fun every one in awhile. my tank is filtered. any suggestions?? thank u!! im glad i have stumbled on this site!!

I would feed him more protein such as blood worms, tubifex worms, the frozen thawed type or freeze dried.

I have only raised a few albino Cuban tree frogs so certainly no expert on tadpoles but I do get lots of green and cuban treefrog tadpoles and toad tadploes in my pond and they devour fish pellets and anything with protein.

Brine shrimp which I am sure he loves is mostly water and low in protein and nutrition as is the lettuce , as they grow they need calcium and protein.

Again most everyone here knows much more than I do and my experience other than simply watching them in my pond has only been with 4 albino tadpoles and I noticed they loved food with protein as they got past the first week (first week they seemed to prefer algae).

This might help you a bit. It is not bullfrog tadpoles but same premise as far as the tadploe stage and feeding.

I never fed mine any supplements or added extra calcium but I did feed them blood worms, tubifex worms and fish pellet which contain calcium as they got older I switched to tiny crickets but in your case being bullfrogs I think they will pretty much eat anything that fits in their mouth (aslong as it moves)

also, sometimes if a tadpole has really good conditions they can put off metamorphosis. also if they dont have enough room or are in crapy conditions they can speed up metamorphosis. i DONT advise keeping them in bad conditions to get them to morph.
