Attention Fellow herpers! A fellow animal lover is in need! We all know that keeping our animals healthy and happy is priority #1 and making sure everything runs smoothly can be a challenge even more so when you are sick and unable to keep up with the demands of breeding and caring for the little creatures. Today Iím asking for help for a fellow friend and breeder in need of assistance. Some of you may have heard of him and if you own frogs, you may have even bought from him as he is a long time breeder. His name is Bill Schwinn who is currently in intensive care and is struggling to keep his animals fed and his utilities on which is obviously a very important part of keeping exotic animals. Friends on Dendroboard are gathering to help Bill through this rough time and are looking for help in different ways. To learn more about Bill and how you can help him or even just offer your thoughts and prayers please visit the following links to Dendroboard:

I know the people who are frogsitting for him are looking for ff donations. More info about it under the "Prayers Please...Bill Schwinn" thread over on dendroboard. There are several different ways that people can help even the little things count =)

Copied from Dendroboard just to give everyone an update here. This post was from Chesney:

Update on Bill...
Dwight, a long time friend of Bill's went to visit him in the hospital this morning. He said the doctors were trying to wean Bill off the ventilator, but he wasn't doing well with it. The oxygen levels to his brain are still very low. Dwight said that you could tell Bill was fighting, but was having a hard time. Please continue to keep Bill in your thoughts and prayers.

Yeah, I guess he's been pretty bad off for awhile but I had no idea he was in the hospital. I had just emailed him the other day to talk about some frogs and hoped that he was better. I did find it rather odd that there was no response. I guess now I know why

Hey guys

I'm one of the ones trying to get the animals sorted out. I'm trying to get a bulk shipment of ffs sent to the person who picked up the frogs today. Over 40 pairs and then some singles, froglets and tads (that's just darts. He also has the tree frogs). He needs ffs asap and I've asked a vendor to donate them and ship to that guy. Once he has the frogs stabilized, he's going so ship some out to me and Lisa Chesney and Michael Novy. Michael is getting the tree frogs and said he's ok with crickets. Lisa and I will need some help with ffs but it will be a few days. So, if you would make a few extras (we'll be doing the same) for us, that would be great!

Bill has been struggling with breathing issues for a couple years now but it's gotten progressively worse. His sister will be posting updates to his FB wall. I don't know the address but you can probably find him through your frog related FB contacts.

Thanks everyone

Kris

Thanks so much Kris for coming to the forums here. Bill used to frequent these forums as well. If whoever is getting the tree frogs ends up needing some help just let me know. I've got plenty of space for more whites and milk frogs and have a few more tanks open now if they're needed. Tree frogs and geckos are all I really have experience with though. I'm sure you guys got it covered but just in case some backup is needed the offer is open. I hope he gets better soon!

Kris, I am just a few miles away in Palm Harbor... I can't monetarily but if there is anything else that I can do... I have some fruit flies started if anyone local with his frogs needs them. If any more of his critters need "fostering" please keep me in mind. I have some space and am more than happy to hold for him or if anything needs a temp arrangement until someone else is able to pick up?

I wish there was more that I could offer!

Just wanted to let folks know that Bill is off the ventilator. I was able to talk with him for a few minutes tonight. He's still got a ways to go, though.

Glad to hear he's doing better! Still needs to get his butt out of the hospital though. Hopefully that will soon follow.

PS. LOL Big hydro! Temper temper. Does seem like this forum gets a lot more spam than last time I was around.

He'll be in there for a while yet, and, likely rehab following. But, it is a relief having him awake!

And I agree with Big Hydro

Here's an update on our current plan (as posted by Dan on DB):

Folks

A few of you may know me from years past. Anyway, I will be driving the bus so to speak on the renovation project happening on Bills house this weekend. I figured I would post this in a few places if folks want to help. I will be in town 15-18 Sept but will only be avail part of the day on the 15th as I also have a wedding to attend. We are starting at 0800 15 Sept-16 Sept and will play the 17th by ear....hope to be done by the 17th.. All the indoor animals have been removed to temp homes so most of this is cleanup and construction.. Work to be accomplished is below and tools to accomplish the task would be much appreciated.

Carpet removal, Painting, clean-up, lots of moving stuff around. House is fairly tidy, but the maint has been neglected due to health.

Yard, a dead tree needs to be removed, trees cut back, bushes trimmed, garbage picked up, vines cut back, yard cut, maybe some turtle pen fence repair.

We are turning his garage into a modernized reptile room. As of right now we have a construction crew coming in to accomplish this but we will need to expedite the removal of all his caging after the roll up door comes down and prior to a new wall going up. This may require a team effort.

Could use a few folks to clean cages..again the animals were all removed but the caging is all still dirty.

OOOOOOoooo! A modernized reptile room! That sounds so nice! I'm sure he'll appreciate that a ton! Any updates yet on how he's doing?

Talked to him this morning. He's been moved from the hospital to the rehab place. He hates it there. Maybe that will motivate him so he can get out! haha.

Well I am finally home. I do have a long difficult road ahead of me, Being unable to breath well is a problem I would not wish for anyone. All my Frogs, Skinks, and Snakes have been placed in the hands of some very good long time friends until we see how much better my health will get.I have to say thank you for the prayers and well wishes, And those that contributed the fund raiser on Dendroboard, thank you Bill
